Letter stack

Letter stack is a word game you play online. Pick 5, 6 or 7-letter words and spell them from a pile of stacked tiles, using only the tiles on top.

Rules

  • Spell the hidden words using only the tiles on top. Each one clears its tiles from the pile.
  • Any other real word of that length counts as a bonus.
  • A hint marks the next tile and lowers your score.

How it helps

Planning each word before you tap, while the pile hides the tiles underneath, practises working memory: holding letters in mind while you plan ahead.

Start with seven 5-letter words and move up to six 6-letter or five 7-letter words as planning gets easier. Gains tend to stay close to the game itself.
